Airport reflections

I love airports.

It's a mecca of different people. The family with every member reeking of anticipation for a well deserved vacation. The business man hurrying along to catch his flight, and make it to the important meeting that might change his entire future. The backpacker, wandering around with tired eyes as she's waiting for a connection flight. The stewards and stewardesses laughing in a group with their small trollies and small scarfs, as they're heading to their next job.

And then there's me. Filled with excitement and nerves as I'm sipping my Chai tea latte at Starbucks, because I tell myself that expensive coffee is better, waiting for the trip of my life. I observe everyone, imagining their story, where they're coming from and where they're going to.

I wonder what they imagine about me.

The last day in Denmark

It's weird how time flies.

- Only a year ago I graduated from IB.

- Only seven months ago I graduated from Service & Co., Scandinavia's biggest guide school.

- Only four months ago I went to a job interview in Copenhagen, for a cruise ship company - a month after that in Amsterdam, same company. I got promised a job.

- Only four days ago, I got told that they were ready for me and I was to embark in Kiel on the 27th of June 2015.

- Only three days ago, I was panicking and stressing about the short notice.

- Only two days ago, I said my goodbyes to my friends.

- Only yesterday I said my goodbyes to most of my family.

- Only two hours ago I made this blog.

And in only 11 hours I will board a plane that will take me to Hamburg. There I will be met by an agent from the company and escorted to Kiel, where I, for the first time, will get to see the ship I am embarking on.

It has been a long journey to get to where I am, and it feels very surreal that it is finally time. This will be my first time out of Denmark for more than a month, and it is my first job in the travel business so, as many of you can imagine, I am very excited!
As is, I think I have about as many questions about this as you do. Will I really get time to see the different ports? What kind of shop will I be in? With whom will I share a cabin? Where are my colleagues from and how old are they? What will I eat? Can I get a discount for friends and family? etc. etc.

Here's what I know:
I'm hired as a shop seller, with approx. 40 hrs pr. week.
I will get time to see the different ports, though I don't know how much at the moment.
I will be sailing in North Europe (Germany, Norway, Sweden, Finland, Russia and Estonia) for three months. Afterwards we will head to the Mediterranean (Italy, France, Spain, Portugal) for two months and then we will cross the Atlantic to go to the Caribbean.
I am very very very excited and a bit nervous!
These are the basics. That's it. As for answering the rest, I will have to take a rain check.

My plan is to blog and post pictures about my adventures as often as possible - no exact promises are hereby made. I hope you will find it interesting to read about my adventures. I sure am looking forward to sharing them with you!

We will see what time brings and who knows where I will be, with whom I'll be with and what I will be doing in only a few glimpses of flying time.

(For legal reasons, may there be any, I will not mention my company by name and you, my dear reader, will just have to be satisfied with as so.)
